At the photography exhibition Mirror of a Nation, moments from history are brought to light — moments captured on film and, at the same time, etched into the national memory by the news photographer Gunnar V. Andrésson over the course of his fifty-year career, from 1966 to 2018.
The exhibition is a selection from the Reykjavík Museum of Photography’s exhibition Companion. Several additional photographs from Akureyri, or images specifically connected to the history of this region, have been added.
The exhibition will be opened at 16:00 by Ásthildur Sturludóttir, Mayor of Akureyri, and Heiða Björk Hilmisdóttir, Mayor of Reykjavík.
Photography lecture by Gunnar V. Andrésson and Sigmundur Ernir Rúnarsson at 17:00.
Light refreshments will be served courtesy of the museum.
